♟️ Future Chess Stars in Action! ♟️
The Co-op hosted a 3rd and 4th grade chess tournament on Tuesday, April 7th—and it was a huge success! This event was extra special because it was the first tournament for every single player. What an exciting way to get started!
We were excited to have students participate from Woodlawn, Drew Central, Monticello, Hermitage, and McGehee, making it a great day of competition and connection across our area.
All students played 7 matches, showing focus, determination, and a willingness to learn throughout the day. We are so proud of each participant for stepping up to the challenge!

• 1st Place: Carter Cameron (Drew Central) – perfect 7-0 record!
• 2nd Place: Isaac Young (Woodlawn) – 6 wins
• 3rd Place: John David Wylie (Drew Central) – 5 wins

The Co-op hosted an exciting chess tournament on April 2nd for 5th and 6th grade GT students from across the area—and what a great day it was! We had over 60 students competing, each playing 7 games to determine our top players.

• 2nd Place: Eva Bapst (Monticello) – 6 wins

Our Regional PAC Migrant Meeting was a beautiful night dedicated to honoring our families and celebrating the incredible strength of our students—especially our seniors who have overcome so many obstacles to reach this milestone.
We make this night all about giving back. From infants to adults, everyone is included. Families enjoyed food, door prizes, and activities designed to support learning at home in both English and Spanish.
One of the highlights of the evening was recognizing our seniors with certificates and cords. In previous years, districts have proudly allowed students to wear these cords at graduation as a symbol of their hard work and accomplishments.
We also shared important information about graduation requirements, the value of daily attendance, and when grades and credits begin to count. Every core subject matters, and we want our families to feel confident supporting their children every step of the way.
This year, we were grateful to welcome an attorney who answered questions about school, student rights, and new laws that may affect our families.
Most of all, we wanted our families to feel appreciated, supported, and celebrated. Thank you to our parents, students, districts, superintendents, and all staff involved with Title I, Part C – Education of Migratory Children. Your partnership means everything, and we are honored to walk alongside you.
