The Arkansas winner of the Milken Educator Award. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, State Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva, nine past Milken award winners, and all the Drew Central Elementary faculty, staff, and students were in the gym when a very surprised Emily was presented a $25,000 check from the foundation.
The second grade classes presented two patriotic songs as entertainment before the surprise presentation. After the presentation, the governor called several of Emily’s family members to tell them about her award.
